The F4U-4 appears to consume fuel at a faster rate while at full throttle than when WEP is engaged while viewing the E6B console. I am not sure if this is an issue with the way the E6B reports fuel consumption, or if it is a "real" fuel consumption issue.

At full throttle, fuel consumption is reported at 620. When WEP is engaged, it drops to 590!

This is not a bug. Apparently the f4u4 WEP included a booster fuel along with the water methananol???, so in fact with WEP on it consumed less gas.

thats correct been posted before and its not a bug its reality.

Wep consists of pumping water into the incoming charge this increases combustion efficiency and requires less fuel while doing it.

More complicated than that but thats the basics.

Wow, that is interesting. Do any of you know if this type of WEP efficiency is found on any other aircraft in AH?

With all 4 stroke engines you can add a certain amount of water to the incoming charge to boost performance.

In every case you can expect to need less fuel.

At max performance most engines are overfuelled past the point of being a chemically correct mixture.
Some of this excess helps cool the motor, now if you replace the excess with water for the cooling effect, you can then correct the fuel mixture for best combustion efficiency and hence a power increase.
