I've got a beauty in my collection. All numbers match, it was built in the BRNO factory in early 1943. It was one of the earlier 98Ks made with a laminated stock (otherwise known as plywood). I also have the bayonet, scabbard and frog.

Nice rifle. But, if I had to go into combat with bolt action piece, I'd take an Enfield with its faster action and 10 round magazine.

My regards,

I ended up having dinner at a great home made pasta place about 3 doors down called 'Paul's Pasta'. Real hopping place right on the waterfront. After dinner a few beers I strolled through the Army Navy store...
