Country Colors

HiTech; Has there ever been a discussion concerning the color of the countries.  For example in AW the country colors were red, yellow and green.  When you looked at the map, you could quickly see who had  which countries because the ownership was in 3 colors instead of 2, the dar bars would also show in red, yellow & green and you could get a better idea of how many enemy were fighting at a given enemy base were as now all you see is one red bar dar but you have no idea as to how many from each country is fighting there.   Also when you have all 3 countries fighting in one sector, it would be nice to see the break down of the enemy instead of just 1 long red bar dar.
Yes I know I suck, other wise youuuuu would be dead so stop bragging.

There has been such a discussion several times over the years.

AH's developers have gone on the record as starting that AH's system is intended to make enemies of different countries not stick out so much.  You can probably do a BBS search for the various threads, if they're still available after all this time.

Personally I always preferred the "color per country" approach that AW and WB's used as opposed to the IFF colors of AH.    I STILL wish AH would change its ICONS (especially since it would allow for smaller, less-cluttering icons, which is another pet peeve of mine).  In all honestly, the issue is nothing new and I don't realistically expect AH's developers to ever change their opinion.  It would be nice if it happened, but I'm not going to hold my breath on it.

I'd like a system by which you would be able to use 1 color per country, or remain with the IFF color system currently in use.

As an unrelated tidbit of trivia, AW's default colors were originally Red/Green/BLUE--Yellow became the default in place of Blue with the release of AirWarrior 2 in 1996 (AirWarrior itself dated back to 1987 and by most accounts was at its peak in the early '90's).

Actually, correct me if I'm wrong, but the default colors were:

BZ=Red
AZ=White
CZ=Green

Then in AW2 they changed but I always used those--being BZ for almost my entire career--even in AH I have to set my friendly colors to Red otherwise I shoot at the wrong stuff... :rofl

AW User Interface + AH Flightmodel & Grafics = my dream :)

Remember the Officer's Club, the briefing room - and the macros  :D

Oh. And AW had a film viewer. (Move the outside view with the mouse in all 3 dimensions unlimited)

Different colors for all countries is a must. It adds so much to the strategic SA.

"BZ=Red
AZ=White
CZ=Green "

The shade of blue they used was a rather "powder-blue" type color and I can see how you might call it white--on some computers I wouldn't be surprised if it indeed looked white.

BTW Im am strongly in favor of the one color per country suggestion.
I WANT the different enemy countries to stand out.

Or we shuld at least have the option by way of Icon sliders to make them either the same color or different colors at our own choosing

Drediock--

The default colors were changed in 1996 to the setup you describe.   I think the box CD of version 1.2 DOS also had those colors.
