Hit noise
« on: June 23, 2004, 11:53:03 AM »
The other night I was in the training arena with iko, and we were trying different stuff out. One thing we did was iko took a 110 and strafed my spit on the runway. I never died due to training settings, but I did hear the hits, and see the damage.

I had a dozen holes in each wing, some as large as soda cans. Also some were cool looking grooves. I had about 20 holes in my canopy, and much of it was spider-webbed.

The only odd thing I saw, was that as I was getting hit, the damage seemed to register very slow. Iko was 200 yds past me and he hit me with so much fire power, that the hit noises continued a good 5 seconds after he past me.

I know in the main arena Id have been dead long before that, but I was wondering if this was lag, or just the way damage is applied?

The way I understand it, the 110 is hitting you with multiple, but the sounds you hear are played for each hit you receive.  So if he is firing two cannons and for 10 hits from each cannon, you hear 20 ping sounds.

If you were to get strafed by say a Jug with eight .50 cals., you probably would have heard the hits till iko was home, re-armed and strafing you again.

Someone with more knowledge might be able to clarify this more.

That has always been a "bug", so to speak, in the MA. If somone lights you up long enough you will hear the hits after you have blown up and are already in the tower. It's odd, but ya learn to deal with it. It's nice to send some one to the tower while still expiriencing the hits. :D

Maybe people are just getting tired of "dealing" with bugs & problems.:(

Hence,  one of the reasons the BBS is filled with "canceling acct"  "see ya around"  "I'm outta here" "F this BS"  "it's been fun, bye"

Kind of a shame if you ask me!
