If I or anyone else spent big dollars {or even just a few hundred} to make the upgrades "that everyone should have known about" and the game looked like the one pictured below {IL2} I could COMPLETLY agree, I think we would ALL be jumping up & down. Well it's not even in the same league my friend:(

While not intended as a kick at HTC
On this point I have to agree
The Graphics are ok. Certainly better then AHI but I wouldnt call them spectacular.
I ran on my old P500 and a 64 meg card "B17 the mighty 8th" and IMHO those graphics were for the most part better then what AHII has now.

All in all Im ok with the graphics we have now.
I just wish I could get it to run more stable

There was someone on Ch200 last night talking about bad frame rates and how he was a computer engineer and had the best equipment and all. I told him I was running 75 fps with a boxed HP invent about a year old with the default AH graphics settings. He asked me what resolution I was running.
1024x768

Then he say's he's running 1600 by something.
Seems an engineer would try a lower resolution.

well .. 32 for film (like in theaters)

but with a moniter i can totally see a 60mhz refersh compared to a 85. above that though, i cant tell the diff just by looking at a 85 and a 120.

i forgot where i heard, but i think 72mhz is the refresh rate threshold for most people to not see flickering.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Really gets old hearing some of these self-appointed brainiacs doggin on folks who are irked over hardware upgrade requirements.

Give it a rest and remember when you were broke before you spout off.  You aint all that, and your economic superiority isn't really impressive.

My system isn't all that leading edge. Nice mobo (A7N8X deluxe), then a very middling XP2600 processor which runs at 1.9GHz. The video card is also middling - ATi Radeon 9600 Amateur, and I have the latest drivers which were published this month. And I'm getting 60-75fps normally. That's with antialiasing maxed out at 6X and anisotropic filtering at 4X. Those settings make the graphics much sharper, and stop the trailing edge of your wings from looking like hacksaw blades.

Also, if your fps is jumping from one extreme to the other, you probably don't have Vsync turned on. It should be ON.

How do I know all this? I'm no brainiac, but I DO read the forums to see what other guys are doing, and discuss these matters. There's a wealth of knowledge in there. Try it sometime.

Now for the cost of upgrading - if some of that gun money were instead spent on useful things like computer upgrades... ;)
