... the Shermie is modeled.

Besides ... GVs disappear as soon as you pass max object visual range apparently. Even in the wide open. Completely invisible ... icon or no. 1500 feet off the deck.

I pickled the ord and said fuggit. There were a few opponents still dogfighting afterall. :D

"I'd like a Ronson Lighter please."

"we are all out of lighters, how about that Sherman out back?"

"Does it light easily?"

"Heck yeah it does!! All you have to do is shoot it with a .303 rifle bullet and it goes up like the 4th of July!"

"well...its kinda bulky for a lighter, but if thats all you got, I'll take it."

This is all conjecture at this point since we dont have one, but I suspect that the M8 will be more useful, and more used, than the M4A3 would. Mind you, I am not against having one, I think it would be great but I think its performance would be similar to the LVT4 if it had an AP round, IE, not all that great. The M4A8 with the 76mm might be an OK addition but the armor (even uparmored) is pretty pathetic.

So what if it's a firetrap?
So what if it's underarmored?

(Two characteristics that also describe the zeke, btw, which holds its own in a fight)

It was the MBT of the U.S. Army during WW2, wasn't it?  Seems like it ought to be in the sim if a ground war is going to be modeled at all.  Same goes for the T-34.

I don't care if they go unused in the MA because the PzKpfw IV and Tiger are "better" for whatever reason.  In the CT we need historical counterparts.  German vs German is just gamey, imo.

Regarding seeing them from the air from reasonable distances, I think there's a new vis setting that can be mapped to help in that regard.  Haven't tried it, 'cuz I couldn't care less about a2g in AH.

One thing does bug me about ground warfare in AHII ... AP rounds appear to be unable to penetrate the new buildings and trees -- at least in my limited experience, they explode on contact.  An LVT hides behind a clump of bushes (not the big stands of trees) and you can't hit him with a panzer.  That seems porked to me.

I agree with everything you said Splash1, Im not against getting the M4, quite the contrary, I think we need it, I just think the M4A8 is the best choice over the more common M4A3.
