Deafult ord loadouts for different planes
« on: May 04, 2004, 08:54:03 AM »
OK, so once upon a time, I flew a F4U1D with 2x1000 bombs and 8 rockets. For some reason, my FE has remembered this, and the first time I fly a F4U1D in any AH session, that's the loadout I get by default.

I want the default loadout to be NO ord on any plane, even if I was loading ord in a previous AH session. But I want the same loadout to apply to that plane in that AH session until I change it. (That seems OK on my FE)

At the start of the next AH session, I want all ord loadouts to default to NONE once again.

I've tried tinkering with various files in the SETTINGS folder, but without success. The problem applies to both AH1 and AH2.

Help please.

i *think* but too lazy to really delve into things to test it, that the .pwl files are what save the ord/fuel loadout settings.

sooo, you're gonna have to (if i'm right):

a) figure out which .pwl belongs to which plane and what each # in the pwl file is for.

b) set fuel/ord to the default you want for *each* plane, first making sure the file isn't read-only, then after making the loadout you want, making sure that you change each file to read-only.

i could be wrong, but the .pwl's are the only the only files in the settings folder that i haven't really taken a close look at.

it'd be easier to just double check and change while you're in the hangar.

Like Shane said the *.pwl store the loadout of the planes.

To do what you want you have to (preferably offline)  set up all the plane you use usually according to your taste.

Then backup the *.pwl  to a directory like "pwldir".

Then you create a batch file in the AH directory containing :

@echo off
copy pwldir\*.* settings\*.*/Y
start AH.exe

And that should od the trick :)

Rgr that - thanks. I tried deleting all those .PWL files from the folder, but it made no difference. The .PWL files can be modified using NotePad. But all files are called something like WLxx.PWL - like shane says there's no way of knowing which plane a .PWL file applies to. I'll try a few more things tomorrow.

Wrong Beetle :)

The pwl is named depending of the plane ,the wl0.pwl is for the P51 , the 21 for the typhoon the 24 for the Yak etc ...

But I've no clue how to know the number ,my guess is it's the number used in the <.plane> command.

I think you deleted the file when AH was started but at this state AH as already a memory copy of the loadout.

Just do this experience offline :
Load the P51 with bombs rockets and 25% fuel.
Go to the runway and check you have the correct loadout.
Quit AH
Restart AH
Got to the runway and check again  (you should have the same loadout)
Quit AH
Delete the wl0.pwl
Restart AH
Got to the runway and surprise you're at 100% fuel no rocks no bombs :p

OK, so at what point does the .PWL file get saved to disk? If I know that, I can do your test in an F4U1D and then look for the most recently modified .PWL file.

Problem solved! <S> 13Promet

It is indeed wl11.pwl, but the settings kept reverting back to the originals. I could not uncheck the combat trim box and have it stay off.

Yesterday, quite by chance, I mentioned to 13Promet that I had missed a con because the UP view in my 109F4 was porked - top 3" of screen obscured by cockpit frame - and that the views kept reverting to defaults every flight.

It turns out that a whole bunch of settings files - both AH1 and AH2 - had, for some reason, had their read-only attribute set ON! So... went into the settings folder, selected all files, Properties, and unchecked the read-only attrib for all of them with one mouseclick.

MUCH better! Now combat trim stays off, and I don't get ord loaded when I don't want it.

:) :) :)
