Staga,

You didnt answer my question.

Sure, If I said offensive things at work, I would be booted too.

BUT, what I asked was if you did that
(made any statements someone might find offensive) at your work, would the police come and arrest you, would you be prosecuted for your offensive statements?

Please answer that so I can understand the legal system in your country.

What about blacks? What if his speach would be against immigrants ?

What would you say if local minister in the church you're visiting every sunday keeps a speach where he says that people who has been found quilty for adultery should be stoned to death ?

You may learned already that it's quite popular to justify the hatred and bigotry with words "God's Will".

The God I've read about is tolerant and he also have rooms for everyone; he's also known about his merciful and forgiving behaviour.

Not sure what god was that Swedish priest serving when giving his sermon.

Staga, I think you are missing the point.  In the US, church and state are separate.  Therefore, while it's illegal to make discriminating remarks at work in a federal institution, it would be ok in a church.

We do have some "hate crime" laws on the books.  Sorry, I don't recall them (content.)

What my fellow Americans don't realize is that we are on the way to having the same laws here, with the new definitions of "hate crime"

"Hate Crime" is a broad net, watch out.

Free speach vs. imaginary "right" not to be offended.

Hmmm, let me think...

Geez people, how can you even consider giving up the former for the latter?

All this talk of "mind control" reminds me of the movie "1984". Could they possibly have found anyone that looked more repressed than John Hurt?

wait and see, the Liberals ( who are ALL for personal freedoms  ) will make preaching a message that  homosexuality is wrong a hate crime. Mark my words, they will.

Funked I have a problem with said priest spreading his bigotry in Church while having sermon.
In Church he should be preaching the god's message, the holy words, not his own thoughts about how people should live and who should they love.

In his free time he can do what ever he wants, be it summoning satan or spreading bigotry, but when at work he should behave like a priest and not like an *******.

btw my grandmother was a keeper of a Tsasouna which is an Orthodox prayerhouse or chapel; I have very deep respect for religious people but when someone is using church or religion as a tool to bring forth his own opinion as a official truth then I do have a problem.

Guess that's just me  :)

If so, I am glad I am not living there.

Dago if I would offend someone with my talks I wouldn't be arrested or prosecuted.

Thing is that priest was convicted of incitement which is a bit heavier offence than just insulting someone.

What would happen in US if in some church some bigot priest would begun to provocate people against african americans and requests people's support for local KKK-lodge ?

Would your authorities just look from the side ?

I sure hope not.

A very good point. All these speach control laws are just a prelude to a thought control, as those ridiculous "hate crime" laws nicely illustrate.

well thats your religious view of course, but i believe exactly what that pastor said, and he wasn't saying his "opinion". he was stating what God thinks of homosexuality.

if you dont believe that then maybe find a religion that suits you better.

oh well my dumb though on it again.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Staga, there is a big differance between tolerant which i am and and approving which im not.Your comment on jews and blacks is way off base not all but most jews feel the same as christians about homosexually as same God said same thing and a recent cnn pole said 85 percent of blacks strongly disapprove of the idea of so called gay marriage and or gay movement. So far as the modern world goes it has killed its tens of millions while the ancient or back ward world as i guess u would call it has killed its tens of thousands. As far as broke the law goes i guess those that helped slaves escape should what be put to  death?.Last year a elementry girl in boston was told not to bring her bible to school she did next day,bus driver told princeaple at 9 years old she was arrested and handcuffed,of course great out cry and charges were dropped but this is happening a little more each year.I make a promise to u and others like u,when u do finnally come after me and mine, and u will nothing changes for long i will not stand there and be eaten by your lions i will take at least 2 of u with me to the here after.
