Go to Newegg.com and hook up.

First, Cool it down to overclock.

CPU FAN AMD|SILENTBOOST A1889-1 RT  $34.99

A good fast proven OC chip...

CPU MOBILE AMD|2400+/266 ATHLON XP%   $77.00

RAM that will clock...

DDRAM 512M|PC-3200 991093 MUSHKIN R $79.00

Get 2 Chips for 1 GIG of course... $158.00.

MB nForce2|5P1A4D NF7-S V2 ABIT ATX  $82.00

Great MB with sound that will make you lose Soundblaster Driver Hell..

Overclock the p*is out of to 2.5,  for about $350, your done.

Keep your HD and case, Enjoy.

EDIT, the CPU will like better Video Cards, but your covered to spend on them by Turkey day, and HL2.

I just got the ASUS A7NX8.  Its a good mobo and it runs well with most of the AMD series.  That with an XP 2500 will run you around $120.  Slap a Gig of DDR  ram in there and you are good to go.

I still need more ram and a faster CPU but I can fly AH2 and get decent to crappy frame rates w/ a Geforce 440 MX.  My next upgrade is gonna be the memory card.

Never heard of it. Link?

I got my Dad, his friend, and my wife on pending upgrade orders.

I'm done, it's on the way, but if I can save a few bucks, hook me up!

It's pretty old actually I put one when they first came out in my box last year.  I have an A7N8X v 2.0 from last august with a AMD Barton 3000+... The Mobo is pretty nice, but I woudl go with Abit if I were to get a new one.  ASUS has a crappy bios program and is hard to OC..  IMHO of course.

ok so had a typo there its the ASUS A7N8X  I have Rev 2.0.  Yes it its an older model but I dont buy brand spanking new computer stuff myself.  I was a little off on the price

For $120+ you can get it with an XP 2200 for a 2500 its about $30 more

as far as the bios goes....its not bad but its definatly not for beginners.  I do like the variable fan control on it.  I also like the CPU overheat protection.

Anyhow I got no complaints myself.
