« on: June 30, 2004, 12:05:14 PM »

I have a GEFORCE 2 vid card with the latest drivers. could someone tell me the best settings to use in AH2 and in the advanced settings from controle pannel for best perfomance.
also i get a lot of screen freezes....... ALOT. i get a long screen freeze when i key up range vox.
also i have a problem with sound. i have to start my computer fresh befor sound will opperate correctly. if i don't i can hear my motor start, wind noise, stall horn, but thats about it. other sounds i can hear when one of the above activate or when someone keys up.

I, too, turned my sound acceleration down to the bare minimum.  The screen freezes are less frequent; however, the issue is by no means resolved.

Vox sounds very "canny" now, but at least my screen freezes only 3 times per fight instead of 15 times.   :(

I don't remember hearing anything about the vox system being changed in AH2.    So, why are we having these issues???

Loony1 and TBolt,

Try turning your texture size down to 256 if it's at the default 512. That cured 99% of my stutters. I've seen others post that changing textures all the way down to 128 fixed their problems.

I occasionally get a screen stutter now after I've been on a long time and certain individuals key their range mic. It's really weird, it's not everyone around me that causes the stutter as they talk, but only when the one individual would key his mic.

The whole thing is really Voodoo and must be driving the folks at High Tech nuts!

I'm already at 256, but I'll try 128 textures.  Man, 128...kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel already with a P4 2.4GHz!?!  :(

I agree.  Sound definitely is interfering somehow.

What kind of sound and video cards do you guys have?

If you send me a copy of the DXDIAG output I would be happy to take a look.
