Bomber Formations Drift Apart
« on: July 14, 2004, 08:24:45 AM »
The bomber formations are extremely difficult to hold together, especially when taking off where you have to steer around hills. You'll also lose your drones while just climbing out at alt-x, where the drones drift back too far. It is difficult to get them to catch back up again. The problem seems to be worse when taking off with heavy loads, such as with 100% fuel. We don't need the extra challenge when flying buffs and in real life, the lead pilot wouldn't have to work just to stay in front of the planes following him. Each plane in the formation's pilot would follow the lead plane. With the new bigger towns and more spread out airfields in AHII, it is critical to try to reach the target with your formation intact.

Drifting Drones

The problem seems to be worse with fully loaded Lancs, especially with 100 % fuel. It even happens with B17s though sometimes. You look back and one of your drones is gone.

I have had the same problem with lagging drones.  Take off - let them catch me, form up, then full power and one still lags way behind.  Have not filmed it yet but can it it will help - Hitech - let me know if ya need film.  Also have my screen lock up when my gunner left the aircraft - locked for over a minute - ctrl-alt-deleted out of it.  That only happened once.

Same here, i use auto take-off and have to fly at nearly stall speed to have a chance of the bombers get back together.  Something is rather screwy.
