E6B Cruise settings ...

It's still not needed to tweak manualy Man and RPM ...

As today fuel management is not part of the gameplay except if you voluntary  choose a light fuel loadout.

But making such a choice would be incoherent as you will be fast  jumped by planes cruising at MIL settings.

Being lighter but slower is not very survivable in the MA (except perhaps for DMF :))

I now have both throttle and RPM mapped to my throttle so that rpm drops with throttle..............

up side

better  engine management..........

down side

scrubbing e by reducing throttle and rpm in combat does not drop as much e as it does when reducing throttle alone...............

scrubbing e during landing is harder..............

I have other wheels mapped for trim...........normally

(well actually I am currently studying the effects of combining the trim mapping with JS and rudder mapping and then switching between CT and Non CT depending on need)

toggle your engine tilt instead of using the throttle.

Straffo - I use cruise settings very often, but I enjoy longer flights (especially when I survive them).  I'm learning to fight with heavier fuel loadouts too, and find that it's not so bad. I especially use cruise settings when I'm flying P-47s, on which I usually also sling a drop tank. There's so much ammo available in a Jug that you can stay out for a long time. :)
