CHARLOTTETOWN -- A funeral will be held tomorrow for Hugh Charles Trainor, a former fighter pilot from Prince Edward Island who shot down 10 enemy aircraft during the Second World War - more than twice the number needed to be considered an ace. One of the Maritimes' most distinguished war veterans, Trainor passed away Sunday at his home in Stratford, P.E.I. He was 87.
Originally from Charlottetown, Trainor interrupted his studies at university to join the Royal Canadian Air Force. During the war, he was shot down and captured twice.
