When did the plane type icons go back to being displayed above the aircraft?

I seem to remember that when AHII was launched they were located beneath.

Why did we go back?

Just curious (and I actually like them better below).

They only went back above for friendlies - enemy icons are still below.   This is to distinguish friendlies who are on the ground taking off, landing or in GVs.  If no icon is visible, it's an enemy who's icon is below ground level.....  :)

Or you've accidently hit the icons off key.  Did that last night and was surprised at why the furball didn't get any closer :)
