What I've gone with is the quality of the optics, the rest is (just) details.
I have a Nikon Coolpix (Nikkor optics) photocamera.
And a Sony (Carl Zeiss optics) vidcamera.
I know that Panasonic is using Leica optics on some camera.
Any camera will never be better than the optics used.
