I agree... that is low but.. you can't blame veterans that think he is a POS because of his veteran claims... pilots who think he is a POS because of his pilot lies... code writers because of his code writing lies...  peopel with integrety because the POS is who he is...bussines owners becaus...

and on and on and on...

I can't think of anyone who couldn't be offended by the POS on some level.

Like hell he apologized.  I've only been reading this thread, but I can't let that one go.

Old KenJr played victim, like somehow it was all a big mistake.   He sat quiet while his defenders ran to his aid and I took all kinds of heat for having raised the question about the truth or lack therof in his stories.

He's used his stories to try and present himself as some kind of authority on things.  Had folks all wrapped up in the 'memorial flight" for his fictional WW2 father etc.  And as Westy pointed out he had scammed people with the computer stuff etc.

Not long ago we saw he was spewing the same BS about Dad again and called him on it again.  Funny how it came down from his website again cause he knew it was BS.

AS long as you let these guys live behind the lie, it will end up hurting someone.

All it takes for a guy like Voss to get emboldened again, is to see all those folks rushing to his defense, writing it off as the past, or minimizing his actions.  He'll bide his time, and when the opportunity arises he'll try and sucker someone else.

Thankfully the community takes care of itself for the most part, and clearly HTC is letting the AH community police itself  in this case.

I've generated an overall opinion of this situation that seems to vary a bit from what others are trying to portray:

• In regards to being an "F-16/P-51 pilot":  Voss flies remote control aircraft.  He had a model F-16 and P-51 as well as some others.  He also insisted that flying R/C aircraft gave you extremely accurate incite into the performance characteristics of planes.  This morphed into "I'm an F-16 pilot" and "I own a P-51"
• I don't recall seeing Voss claim he had 2 PhDs.  I believe it was something that was said about him in an interview with an on-line gaming magazine.  That said, I distinctly remember that Voss never said anything to correct the error.  I have no idea if he actually told the individual that he had 2 PhDs.  Really, only 2 people in the world know the answer to that one.
• I don't recall anyone losing money through "investments" other than his partner who gave him some computer hardware.  I honestly believe this aspect of things has been exagerated in vitrolic posts.
• The brain tumor excuse and scorpion bite excuse were actually from Voss.  From what I've seen to date and given the excellent timing of both, I sincerely believe both were lies.
• Voss was outed by an actual AFA graduate who actually gave voss the bennifit of the doubt at first then recognized the outright lies in regards to military service and decided enough was enough.
• Voss did present "screenshots" that weren't actually screenshots of a game but simply generated pictures (from what I have no idea).
• Voss presented a doctored picture of a P-51/pilot where he superimposed his head over the other pilot's in order to prove he had a P-51.
• Voss claimed to have a game capable of doing things that everyone wanted in a game at the time and has not shown a single line of the code to anyone.  He still maintains that he "invented" aspects of games that in effect translate to being "more realistic" and thus are actually aparent to anyone that knows anything about combat/aircraft/war.
• Voss did claim that he was friend with someone at the FBI and was going to turn in people for violating their TOS agreement from the beta test period of TAS.
• Nobody recieved a single beta copy of TAS to steal secrets from.

Voss started "TAS" on the premise that it would be easy to do something that AW and WB were claiming would be extremely difficult (if not impossible at the time) to do.  He lied to get people to support TAS in doing so.  The "TAS will be able to do this... why can't your game?" slams started rolling into both AW and WB threads and called all the programmers to the mat.  Voss loved every minute of it... since he didn't have to do much other than seed the misconceptions with simple harmless lies.

The lies Voss was telling grew out of control, and Voss (being something of an idiot) didn't know when to throw in his hand and began lieing more... only not little white lies... real whoppers.  But that was OK, because he still had some support from those who simply had to believe that AW and WB programmers had their heads up their tulips and a better world did exist.

It finally snapped when Voss simply took it too far and pissed on the wrong people.  That's when Voss disappeared multiple times... citing multiple reasons.

And here we are... watching Voss claim it is everyone else that has it wrong.  He didn't lie, he didn't defraud, he was not the villain people make him out to be.  There is some level of truth to that, as there was to almost every other lie voss told.  That's the truly sad thing about him: he believes that a part truth is not a lie.

Most of the stuff here is fairly accurate..or at least close enough for government work..  I was a TAS beta tester, and I bought an Orchid 3dfx card on a Firday on TAS's word that he was releasing the BETA after compiling it that weeked (which led to the "oh the file corrupted"  that led to a basic bluff calling which led to the famous brain tumor, then the old scorpion bite under my fingernail stories..  from there on it got really sick..

As for your first point..  Voss may fly RC planes..  but his stories of F16 pilotage followed his stories of being an AF Academy grad, having shot down 2 migs in DS, and leaving an F16 canopy with my name on it it the Iraqi desert after he had to punch out of an F16, then when told that the AF actually recrods trivial details like lost F16's and shot down Migs, he said he was living under an assumed name because Iraqi intelligence was after him..thats why he wasn't in the AFA Graduation records etc. etc. etc...

He's a liar..  and a really sick liar..  Personally I bought a 3dfx card about 5 months before I had anything to play on it..while it was at its highest price..  

His usual MO after having his bluff called was to come out on the attack pretty aggressively with a total disinformation campaign and personal attcks as I've seen here..then eventually when enough pressure came to bear he'd make up some really assinine excuse (and post under another handle that Voss is really sick..nearly dead..don't tell anyone but just please stop pushing your point) I'm not sure if his personal low point was pretending to have been a combat fighter pilot, or asking for people to "pray for Voss while he fights cancer under another name..

He's sick..  I was there..I had personal emails with him (under several names actually that detailed both his claims, his counter claims,  and his really sick excuses..  not board posts but emails from his ISP..  I talked personally to the people who "outed him" from his F16 pilot lies.. )

There are indeed veterens at HTC. But I think your banishment proclimation would he hard to enforce. I dont know if Skuzzy is a veteran but he certainly respects service a great deal.
 
Comunity is the big issue I think. We may tear each other to ribbons in the game and on this BBS. But honesty is something that we take for granted. Some of the most right wing guys on this board say things that to me seem so twisted as to sound like lies.
I am absolulty sure the same is true of things I say from my POV. But I know that at worst they are picking and choseing facts that support their POV and then maby jumping to a conclusion. So there are real flame fests and hard words passed.
But I know they are honest people that are stretching to make a point and convice an advesary of thier POV. I hope they know the same thing of me.

Voss is totaly different animal. He will utterly lie and then utterly lie repeatedly to try to cover it up. He will lie about anyone that attacks him to anyone that will listen. He will show up here allmost imediatly with a shade account confusing the debate and drawing people into defending his lies.

He is murder for the comunity. Sociopaths are that way.

Stop that Pongo.  you are making sense.  that's atypical of you.  I don't know or care about Voss but the silver lining for me here is a fresh look at folks whose opinion and POV I was ready to dismiss out of hand.  good post.

Storch.  You dont have to aggree with someone to respect that they are trying to find the truth.  But its human nature to get pissed at someone who appears to be eloquently spouting gibberish. If they are smart enought to be eloquent why cant they be smart enough to see it your way?
