That's the one that should work, unless he's changed it again.

If I have that polaroid still it's in a box in storage at the moment. My stuff doesn't get moved up here until the first week in August. I'll have to make a mental note to look for it. Thanks for reminding me!

Busy day here - two posts in one and I gotta fly - errr run.

For Naso:

Yes sir, many, many, years ago DoK created the format of scenario play. He was also therefore first CM to exist in the world of online flight sims.  He also invented the **persona of the CM** This is hard to describe but the bottom line was a lot of work goes into those things. People need to show up when they are supposed to, go where they need to go, and fly the mission they are ordered to fly, in order for the "game" the designer had in mind to be properly afoot.

Dok used the iron fisted CM peronae to keep his ducks all in a row (and off flying when they were supposed to). There is a trickle down effect even today (at least there was to the end of AW) that locking horns with a CM during or about an event is taking your life into your own hand (hehe).

I started in AW just as DoK was leaving - but his influence loomed (like a dark shadow) over all the scenario play - at least till the end of the SMG (scenario masters guild)

When I co-designed Ploesti! - I considered DoK's archives required schooling.   :)

(Also DoK and the crowd he hung out with in old AW, developed a certain style of newsgroup flaming that lives on.  Anyone can spew vitreole at an idiot - but to be really, *really* good - your fiery rant has to be both articulate AND funny - to everyone else BUT the hapless victim. In that regard I think DoK might be the all time master, though I'm sure he'll correct me if he actually learned that art from another of the old masters.)

For DoK:

The TopGunnz squad was "the ultimate" troll set up for AW. I think the idea was hatched at SB's Dallas CON and then the gig was set up behind the scenes. The truth was finally revealed to all at the following CON in Indy. No one leaked the secret for the whole year.

The bottom line: A fairly large group of killer aces (the list included BB, GE, SB, RM, HT, DD and more - SB prolly has the list handy)
donned shades and pretended to be a new group of kids that were "gud at flight sims" who came over to AW as a group. These mokes trolled the boards with the usual noob drivel and patter - deliberately chest thumping and pushing all the hot-buttons of the community to piss everyone off. They were setting themselves up to be "dweeb-hunted".

Only problem was, when ever anyone (or any squad) went up to teach these idiot noobs a few lessons - they had thier bellybutton handed to them on a platter. It was really funny stuff. Prolly the last of the "really great trolls" in AW.   Grey Eagle did up the squad logo - it was awesome of course. (can someone please link it so DoK can see it?)

OK - back to work - I have a door to install.  :(

You did stop by that Con.  I just missed you - I was the guy wearing the sheepsuit.

I think it was "taken for granted" that you weren't flying at the time or anywhere near intersted in flying or "too busy" etc.  Ask SB to be sure. There's no way *that* crew would have even considered dissing ewe with a non-invite without just cause to feel sure you wouldn't be able to participate.

Geez, there's enough old Air Warriors in here ain't there?
There's true irony for you, Voss indirectly inspires a virtual Air Warrior reunion of sorts.

Oh the conversations that went on during that 'event'.  Lots of us were 99% sure that it was what it was, and we weren't gonna bite on it, but there were those who just about blew a gasket on channel 1 during that time.

LOL good fun all round

We saw players show up in the last week that hadn`t played in a long, long time. We took it personaly and as an assault on an entire living breathing community. It was not just a game. It was much, much more than that.
Long time ingame  foes began to communicate in quite a bit different manner than had been the norm . Folks knew we were losing our link that brought us together for so long and everyone was POed to the max about it.
Old time stories were told and memories and feelings were exchanged openly.
I don`t know about everyone else but AW and the community that made it tick took me through some pretty tough times. It was a release, a place to go where you always had friends that were there for you. Some of these guys that you had never met you knew, in some cases, on a more personal level than people you dealt with on a day to day basis in RL.  You knew when there was sickness in the family. You knew when a family memeber was lost. A lot of times you knew when there were probs with a marriage. You cared about these folks and you did what you could in support of them when times were rough for them. You also received it in return.
The night of the final tribute massive flyby was awesome and quite a sad time. You knew you were about to lose touch with a lot of the players and that an era was about to come to a drastic end.
It`s taken a long time for a lot of these people to regroup here, but it`s a great thing. A lot have been lost never to return.
Call it silly, irrational or whatever, but since that time I have never particapated or allowed EA games of any kind in my home.
