All is well !!

guys please excuse my writing ability but i had to try. this was one of the funest sorties i ever had in Aces Hi. Special thanks to Skuzzy and Citabria.

i rendezvoused with the bombers at about 22 thousand feet the air was cold as I turned up the heat to clear the wind screen. The formation was headed to the Knights head quarters. I knew both of these bomber pilots and there crews personally so I wasn't about to let anything go wrong. Suddenly over the radio came the information of enemy bandits at a15. I radioed to the lead bomber that I was going to press on ahead and try to hold the fighters down. As I approached the field 3 contacts came into view. I call to the bomber formation over the radio "tally 3 low Me109". Sweat immediately covered my palms as my mouth got drier and drier.
I grasped the stick tighter and tighter as I rolled over to make the first pass at the highest 109 hoping to push him back away from the bombers. He immediately took evasives with a spit-s which was exactly what I wanted. as the other 2 109 kept climbing for all there worth toward the bomber formation. I pulled back on the stick hard and and came over the top to pursue the other 2 Me109's, that were closing on the formation fast. I called loudly over the radio to the formation 2 Me109 closing fast. Lead bomber calls "BOMBS AWAY!!" loud and clear over the radio comms and plots a course headed for home "turn heading 2 7 0" he said. Thank god for the speed of my mustang, It closed the gap on the 2 climbing 109's fast. I wiped the sweat from my forehead an targeted the higher of the 2 and made my second attack. I held the stick steady and adjust my aim with the rudder. Time came to as stand still as I pull the trigger and watch the sparks strike the left wing of the enemy plane. sending it in a burning spiral of death. Conformation from the bomber groups on the kill as I pull up and start to climb looking frantically for the other 109. Then suddenly like the nightmare you never want to see, tracer come flashing by my plane. I immediately take evasive and avoid the attack, but I loose the valuable advantage I once had. Surprising the 109 continues after the formation rather than follow me. I call to the bombers Messerschmitt inbound as I struggle to climb back to the formation. I see the bombers guns firing away. I pray as I push the throttle to war emergence power trying to gain more altitude and setup another attack. The 109 makes a pass at the Lancaster as I call for it to take evasive. He scores a hit and the  big bomber begins to smoke from on engine and a long trail of white mist and black smoke stream back indigenous of a fuel and oil leak. The bomber breaks right into a spiral dive on the second attack and the 109 follows.    This bring me within gun range. As my eye go black from the GeForce I cant get a shot at the 109. I ease of the throttle trying to pull more lead but to no avail. then suddenly the 109 breaks of as the bomber pulls out. I watch in amazement as he hits the water at over 500mph. The bombers call the kill even though i never fired a shot. 2 down 1 to go but he's no where to be found. we plot our course for home. The bomber call back over the radio "major fuel leak were headed for friendly territory"
. I combed the skis for the remaining 109. Suddenly he appears off my  long 6. I'M worried about my fuel and ammo now so I press on toward home, But the 109 is closing. I decide to turn back and engage. I firewall the throttle and pull around and head for the closing 109.
As we come closer, I notice him turn away from me. As before this one as well heads for the crippled bomber. I make a well judged lead turn and have a long tracking shot at him.
he immediate takes evasives with a spit-s. I decide almost instinctively to follow knowing this is the final threat. As I pull back on the throttle to follow him through the spit-s it hits me. If he didn't do the same that he would be able to climb and I wouldn't be able to follow. I slammed the throttle back to full war emergence power and prepared myself the the  massive GeForce. As the huge Packard Merlin engine roared on my vision began to leave me. I pulled with all my might trying to track the 109. As we started to go vertical I could tell the enemy was trying to hang me out to dry. I struggle to keep him in my gun site but could tell I was closing. ClOSER CLOSER CLOSER he came ! I made the last bit of an adjustment with my rudder and pulled the trigger. I could feel the plane shutter as the 6 .50 came to life one more time. The bullets struck the plane from front to rear, there was this massive explosion and the plane was all but little parts falling to earth. Then over the radio came the bomber pilot ...."we've ditched in friendly territory and all is well"

RWY out !!

Beat me to it RWY, but a well written story.  It was a blast.  I still laugh about the 109 that augered trying to follow me through that turn dive.

Minot was also escorting and took care of some uglies at that came up from 12.

That certainly was a tense and fun sortie.

<S> RWY, Minot, and Citibria

Can't say enough good things on how well RWY steered me during that flight.  He kept me alive with his orders on where he needed me to be so he could defend me.
