Now install DRIVER CLEANER
Go to add and remove programs and remove all references to ATI or Nvidea.
Restart in safe mode. Usually by clicking the f8 button during reboot.
DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING if windows asks.

Run DRIVER CLEANER AND CLICK THE CLEAN button.
Then restart. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING once again. It's ok, all will be well

Add this to the list for win 98se users . its the offshore service pack (1.5) that extends the ussable ram abouve 512 . and tweeks it out better (ive been using it for awhile now and it works great )

Roscoroo have you tried the "ConservativeSwapfileUsage" tweak for Win98. Makes it use the swapfile ONLY if required. If you have enuf mem using this you can get rid of the swap alltoghter.
I believe the tweak for 512+ ram addresses aprob where most PCs with more than 512Mb or 768Mb on Win98 refused to boot into Win98.
All this does is limit the memory available to Win98 to 512Mb.
Only remeber these from few years back when I hit the same problem (768Mb mem installed).
