Sorry, I dont mean to whine, and this probably should be on a different forum, but I just wanted to bring to your attention the numerous CTDs Ive had with Patch 6. It might be interesting to know that this is the only time it has happened on my system, and i have been through all the AHII patches.

Are there any known conflicts with this system?

AMD Athlon XP 2000+
Maxtor 40G HD
Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
512 MB DDR 266 ram
DFI AD73 Pro Motherboard
VIA chipset

When are you crashing? Immediately on entering the game? When talking on VOX? Certain length of time?

Whats your connection? Cable, dial up phone modem, DSL?

Which version of Windows do you have?

Have you read the sticky posts in the "AH2 Bug " forum and the Tech Support forums? Might be something there that can help too.

The thing is its almost always completely random times.

Ive crashed right before I took off, in the hanger, on someones tail ready to kill them, and the worst one is right before im about to land kills... Gear down and everything, then desktop.

Make sure you have the latest 4in1 drivers for that VIA motherboard.

Also, send me an output of DXDIAG, if you could.

OK. Possibilities.

Something interfering with your connection (loose connectors, bad cables etc.) Also check your fans in the case and make sure they are running correctly and your case is free of dust.

Maybe a virus. Run your normal anti virus scan. When it completes, turn off Windows XP System Restore located in your System tools folder. Reboot the computer into safe mode and run the virus scan again. Reboot the computer and it'll come back up in normal operating mode. Turn System Restore back on and set a restore point there.

The reason for this is that System Restore saves critical files every reboot. If you have a virus, there is a good chance it'll get saved and reintroduced when you reboot your machine.

i JUST reformatted my system. And when I reinstalled AHII, Patch 6 was the latest version. im all clean of viruses, but i did JUST install that new processor. I think that may be a part of it.

I think if it was the new processor you'd have major problems with any program you tried to run.

If you are having problems with other programs too, check your BIOS version for the new processor. check the heat sink for proper installation (thermal grease used between sink and chip, clamps in place, fan plugged in and running)

Last thing I can think of is power supply. With new hardware comes more demand on electricity. A faulty or minimum power supply will cause system reboots.

Lots of threads popping up lately with CTD's. Keep an eye on them too. Hang in there. Maybe someone else has the answer.
