Was driving a 05' Subaru WRX for a few hours last night.

I was stunned.  Nice and fast, (love turbo sound;)), and it can take a corner like nothing I have ever seen.

Anybody own one?:D

Funkypants has one.

Did you drive the standard or the STi?

Standard, but I have heard good things about the STi. :D

We'll just say I am going to be looking for one next spring. ;)

It has about the best 0-30mph times for any car under $50,000 too, manily due to 4WD traction. Of course the lack of toque coupled with the 4WD kills it above that, for example 0-60 is modest and 0-100 is terrible (at least in sports car or muscle car circles).

0-100 in a little under 15 sec is still pretty good.  The handling is amazing too.  I'm probably selling mine due to career change but I love it.  I can't even imagine how fun it would be in the snow.  Just in the rain I have a blast, hanging the tail out for fun.
If you just read magazines and haven't driven one:
Bad things that will surprise you:  Drivetrain backlash/ringing, slow synchros.
Good things that will surprise you:  The seats and the handling.

This sounds right.  I finally got to race one and was quickly looking at his rear bumper for the first few secs. By the end of the onramp I was by him, he wasn't a very good sport... tried to hog both lanes as they narrowed....the old C4 slipped on by.  :)
