Hey all

Good to be back!
Finally subscribed +)

My first impression of 1.04...  Hey I like it.  I don't find it has changed things alot at all.  The skills i developed in my few weeks flying 1.03 all apply still +)

Beefs..  Ostwind too strong against ground objects..  JU88-A4... Barely worth flying, a C4 or C6 would be a more appropriate combatant against all the late war monsters.  Lanc III.. give us the 4 gun rear turret!!  Late war monsters deserve late war defences for buffs.
As to the fighters I have flown so far.. P51, 109's, SpitV, Typhoon (YAY for 1.04 on the Typh), FW190a5.  No complaints!!  The G10 still rocks IMO as do all the 109's +)When used properly the G10 has to be one of the most surviveable AC in the sim.

The new beta map...  Its ok, the play doesn't seem too unbalanced, I've only been playing for 2 evenings so far and haven't seen anyone wiped off the map yet.  The vehicle bases in places are close to each other..  I guess this is good and bad at the same time.  If a player is watching, it can make for good tank battles.  If ignored another country can take 2 at a time (the downside)

Anyways I'm happy +)

Looking forward to carrier ops!!!

I too would agree that when used properly the g10 is the most survivable air craft in the sim.
But would you also agree that it is impossible to use properly against smart pilots?
Since the g10 is very hard to control above 400 kts, you cannot effective BnZ, you must use rope a dope manouvers, and when rope a doping, if another plane shows up, well there goes your kill.
Do I think the planes like the N1k and the C hog are uber? Not really they each have faults.
Do I think that if some dweeb sees a fight, sees one bad guy and decided he wants to kill him, dying be damned, that he can? Yes, an the same cannot be said of the g10. I dont enjoy flying g those planes because I fell into the same mentality, i don't pick my engagements carefully, i engage everything i see, and end up doing poorly in them not becuse of the plane, but because the guns and handling make me fly them differently.

 Welcome home Skurj!!!

IMO,  Ju-88 makes an excellent base defense dive bomber   Not bad for offense either. Just don;t go alone and without escort.

... and Cod knows how I'm going to land on a carrier when it still takes me five miles of E bleeding maneuvers to slow down and land on the tarmac on these bigger bases

There there Rip.. I've been practicing carrier landings offline too, and even setting up a mode on my X36 dedicated to making landings easier   Not quite sure how far down the tailhook on the F4U extended, isn't it around a foot below the landing gear?

Hope they add a section on the scoreboard to show your success at landing on the carrier   Looking forward to doing some tailhook-up victory runs along the deck too, hehe

Welcome back SKurj! Typhoon is indeed a force to be reckoned with in 1.04 now, though I still believe the old tactics should be most successful.

Hi SKurj,
About the tail guns on the Lanc III, the 4 gun turret was equiped with 4 .303s, our 2 gun turret has 2 .50 cals.  We have the late war Lancaster defense (not the late, late war 20mm cannon though).  2 50s is much beter than 4 303s.

Hmmm certainly don't seem as effective as the tail on a b17 or b26.  The loadout window doesn't indicate any .50's either...
