Irina and Tamara Press were Olympic champions. The sisters were a force to be reckonned with in the 1960 and 1964 games. Irina was the 100 meter gold medalist in 1960, Tamara won the Shot put and Discus in '60 and '64.
Both had something in common with the great sprinter Stella Walsh. Stella won the 100m in the 1932 LA Games and placed 2nd to Helen Stephens in 1936. (Helen is another good story) After losing to the 6' tall Stephens one polish writer (Stella ran for Poland but resided in Cleveland) claimed that Stevens was probably a man. She wasn't.......... but
Stella was. In 1980, Stella was the innocent victim of a robbery in Cleveland. A stray bullet ended her life. Her secret was discovered during the autopsy.
The Press sisters? Both disappeared from competition after sex testing was implemented in 1966. I'm sure Boroda will claim they simply retired.

edit - Spelled 'Stephens' wrong.
