Great fun tonight (large raid)
« on: March 12, 2000, 11:00:00 PM »
Greets, just wanted to extend my thanks to everyone who participated in the large raid on the Rook industrial areas.  Was the most fun I've had in awhile.  The multi squad force took off from F12 with escorts rolling from F16 I believe and the escorts saw the force over the target area and back to base losing only 2 B17's and a couple escorts.  If anyone is interested I filmed the mission from takeoff to my untimely demise from the escorts point of view if anyones interested you can email me and I'll send it to you.  There was some lag and the clouds aren't there in the film.  But it takes the strike force from friendly territory to the Rook HQ and City where I was shot down following some piss poor gunnery and SA on my part (grrrrr....) Which I attribute to being nervous and too much mission Guinness prior to take off.    My hats off to the members of VMFA-212 "Lancers", JG2, Bucaneers, and everyone else who participated.     <S!>

I blame mir.

Yes it was a blast-thanks again for the excellent escort job by our lil friends, only one con got close to me and he went down under my guns. <G> My apologies to VMFA-212 "Lancers" for not including them in the buffer credit I posted after we successfully "hammered" the Rook infrastructure. You guys did great and it was a pleasure to fly with all of you.<S>

Lotsa and lotsa fun!  We should start making this a Sunday evening event   ...would suck to be Rook, though, we seem to go after the country with the most numbers when we  do adhoc missions like  this.

I wonder just how long their dar stayed  down, we  hit city 1 min. before we hit  HQ, I wasn't on but another 30 min,. after that.

Escort: When you lose 2 planes of a 10 plane formation, by this games standard that  is an outstanding success! <S> Escorts!

Diddo from one of the buff drivers.  A most impressive sight we all made as we soared above the clouds over Rookland.  Myself and four of my fellow Buccaneers made up the City Strike Force. Unfortunately, we suffered 40% losses; however, we were able to make two passes at the city, resulting in severe damage.  We then proceeded to drop the last three bombs left in our group on F3 as we rtb'd.

Great job by our little friends. They stuck with us all the way back to our recovery base at F6, and did a commendable job of engaging the enemy fighters that dared to challange us. Salute!  Also salute to Ripsnort, overall leader of the Buffs and an early casualty.

Suggestion to buff drivers: Go to the Buccaneer homepage (http://www.fantasyflight.org/buccaneers/)  and click on "Training."  Read the article on flying bomber formations. This method will increase the survivablility of your buff formations while decreasing the frustration level of those trying to maintain a formation with you. Again, thanks to all.

Wait  a minute, I survived to fly home and land with Weazel!  Don't put me on the MIA list and route my locker yet, Sabre! Hehe.  We destroyed HQ in 2 passes, we split from the main force as you folks went to  city.

Hmmm...  I played 12hours Saturday and at least 10 hrs Sunday and all the time the "Rooks" were being gangbanged.  I doubt you guys attacked the country with the most players...

Average for the entire time I played was
Knights 28 Bishops 32(as high 39 at one point) Rooks 21-27
So by my math the average was 60 vs 27 Rooks being the 27.

Just giving you guys a hard time!    I know the Rooks radar was down often this weekend but I must have missed the big raids...

FYI Gangbanging sucks!

It seems like the radar was only down for somewhere around an hour. (This was the strike that came sometime after 11pm EST).

It was pretty funny flying on the rook side, watching the comments about "large strike goup from the west!" and then "large strike group from the north!"  Ok well not really funny

Considering it was a combined 60-18 (18 being the rooks) and we were down to 4 bases and being heavily defensive, it did not come as much of a surprise when we lost the radar.  But I found it fun to try to fly without it.

(note: please don't construe this as a whine about banging, because it's not.  I had a lot of fun.)

Woops! Sorry, Ripsnort.  We did clean out your footlocker pretty quick, there. Guess you're gonna want your extra pair of boots back, and the 5th of scotch and carten of Lucky Stirkes...well, a 10th of scotch and half a carton (we really enjoyed them, by the way). You'll have to talk to Whitey if you want your collection of dirty paperbacks and...er...other personal items back.  Bunch of vultures, ain't we  .

Well, when I  get back from Switzerland (F5) I want my Artero Fuentes back, those puppies cost me $20 a piece!  Keep the girly magazines, I glued a picture  of  the Queen of England on every naked picture  and gave  it to the english prisoners we have  here in Knightland.
