Problems with Number of Kills
« on: July 28, 2004, 11:51:39 PM »
I have what may be a question already answered, but When I look at the expanded Kill Stats under my call sign of ngc89 It shows 52 kills. But when I look under Pilot scores it only shows 40 kills. I had noticed this in the online arena when you look on the roster too. Is this a bug with the system? I know a couple of my squad mates also have noticed this problem.

Any help with this would be grateful.

The Kill Stats show all your kills, including any where you didn't actually shoot at them, but they crashed nearby giving you the proximity kill.  For scoring purposes, however, these kills are not included, and that is why you see a difference in numbers.  :)

Kills of ground vehicles and pts garnered while flying as a fighter (as opposed to attack) do not tally into the pilot score.  They do tally in the stats.

Another reason for the difference is that kills as a gunner or ship gunner are included in the stats but not in the pilot score.  I don't think Flossy is right.  I'm somewhat sure proxy kills count in the score and in the stats, but you get no perks for them.

I agree about gunner or ship gunner - but why would kills obtained by someone crashing nearby count towards the score? There's no skill in that and it seems a bit odd to me?

Flo, I completely disagree.  Think of it this way.  What if the pilots are TnBn to the MAX in a palm-swaten, heart racin fight on the deck.  If one piliot augers due to stall or bad SA (i.e. tree canopy face plant), then the other deserves that proxy to count.  He outfelw the other guy that couldn't hack the slow speeds and constant loss of E.  Just my humble opinion.
