What are clones for?

And can I fly other races ship? or I'm stuck with my race's uggly cruisers?

You can fly any ship eventually. Basically, if there's something you want to do, you'll probably 99% of the time need to purchase or train a skill before you're able to. In order to pilot other ships, you'll need to learn the appropriate skill. For example, I am Gallente, and I recently purchased a Caldari frigate. Before I could use that ship, I needed to train "Caldari Frigate" to level three or four. Same with cruisers/interceptors/etc.

Clones are insurance for your trained skill level. If your ship is detroyed you are in a pod, it that's destroyed then you lose your skills (not sure if you lose all of tho).

clones make sure that when you die (pod destroyed) you dont lose any exp that you earned. For instance if someone blew up your ship you are out of a ship, but if someone killed your ship then blew up your pod and "you" died then you lose some exp.

I would buy a clone that will be over you exp limit. also buy insurance for your ship.. if you get blown up the insurace company will give you money.

buy a clone... i have collected 10 clones so far.. if you piss me off i will blow your ship up and your pod and save your corps as a trophy.
