GV spawn and campers
« on: August 03, 2004, 01:41:31 PM »
I know many of you don’t like GVs but I have fun in them from time to time.  But spawn camping is out of control.  Sure I’ve done some in the past…  The predictability of the spawn makes things rather boring at times.  I was wondering if a new spawn system could be invented—one where you would have an arrow based spawn system with a maximum spawn range but one that you could rotate 360 degrees and shorten as needed.  Kind of like a system used to navigate the fleet in the water with a mobile spawn.

Thus if you wanted you could pull the arrow out to maximum range and try to spawn there—but if that location is camped then you could adjust the arrow and make the spawn shorter or move the spawn to the left or the right as needed.  It could make gv battles less predictable and camping much harder to do—Camping could still be done at a VH on an enemy base but you would have to work for that just like vulchers capping a base.

Thoughts?

To me, getting killed at a spawn point is like getting vulched. If I'm the one being vulched, then it's up to me to stop it. In other words, stop spawning where the camping is going on. The campers will get bored and leave.

Spawn Camping

I have camped on many ocassions.  Usually I will see a base flashing or the town and go out to investigate.    If I find a GV there I will do my best to blow up the GV.   Then I will hang around to see if he or anyone else decides to respawn and come back.   Sometimes I stay at the site of where I shot him or go to the spawn point.     Usually in the AM hours there are not  many players and I don't hang around the spawn points for a long time.

I have spawned into enemy area and have been shot up on arrival.  I will not respawn only because I will get killed again.     Eventually they will leave if noone else spawns and I will try again later on to spawn.     The only real bummer is when you spawn a Tiger and get whacked on arrival to the spawn point.  Now that does get me all ticked off but I learned my lesson and take my lumps and move on.

I suggested having multiple spawn points for each field a couple of months ago and apparently similar ideas have been suggested by other players in the past.

You could have say three SPs from one field to another arranged just far enough apart that they couldn't all be covered by one spawn camping GV. If one SP is camped you could try another and head to the first and kill the camper.

This wouldn't stop squad camping but would have the benefit of not needing any game changes. Now the terrain editor has appeared we might see stuff like this in new terrains.

No spawn points.  If you want to take a field w/ gv's, you gotta drive to it.  This is an air combat sim, not WWII online.  I don't see air starts for bombers or fighters... the equivalent to gv spawns.  Fly a plane dolts!  :D

Spawn camping is no different than vulching at an airfield. The only real difference is you can't look around in the tower to see who's in the area.

Fact remains if you do it more than once your the dweeb.

If someones camping go grab a plane & blast him.

The only thing that I see needing fixed with the Ground vehicles is the instant supply/repair & rearm.

Should not be instant, should not be able to track & fire while its happening.  Basicly you should be outside the tank fixing or hauling boxes. Vulnerable to any round or guns.

Theres nothing much more satisfying than getting vulched once or twice and then upping a heavy to kill them before they can land any of the camped kills.
