I'll grant that the Defiant is an interesting concept and one that was indepentantly investigated by many nations.  Only the British were looney enough to actually put it into service.

Not a bad looking aircraft, all things considered.

Boulton Paul  Defiant

"The Defiant was to prove, that a fighter not noted for its manoeverablity and with all its armament concentrated in a turret instead of in the wings, was proven tactically wrong. It was really not suited to operations on the scale that was taking place during 1940. By August 1940 it was withdrawn fron daylight combat operations but as a A.I. radar equipped night fighter it done extremely well shooting down more raiders per interception than any other night fighter of 1940-1941."

The first monoplane torpedo bomber of the RN. It was said that the Barracuda was designed by a committee and built in a madhouse. In fact, it was not that bad an aircraft, but early versions were seriously underpowered, and it was certainly ugly. The Barracuda was a shoulder-wing design with large slotted Fairey-Youngman flaps and a T-tail.
(That thing is UGLY)

hope your right  about it NOT being the defiant...

Among those aircraft - British and American - fitted with Boulton Paul turrets may be mentioned the following:-

Defiant - 4 x .303-in. Mid-upper

Halifax - 2 x .303-in. Nose  2 x .303-in. Mid-upper  4 x .303-in. Tail

Lockheed Hudson  2 x .303-in. Mid-upper

Ventura  4 x .303-in. Mid-upper

Liberator  4 x .303-in. Mid-upper 4 x .303-in. Tail

"... had a Boulton Paul tail turret!"

Who ae you who is so wise in the way of the Boulton Paul turret?

;)

Glad you pointed that out. I wondering why such a useless plane as the Defiant would be coming out at this point in time.  Even in a BOB scenario it would be essentially useless (IMO) as there is are no forward firing guns and there aren't enough participants to have both a pilot and a gunner.
IMO you'd need both to use that plane as an offensive platform on line. Without coordinated maneuvering and gunning you have the pilot jumping between positions and that doesn't work well exept when attacking a base bineg vulched or defending oneself from enemy aircraft attack.
