world of fear? ever been to the middle east? ever dealt with arabs? different culture there and assuming that your version of acceptable force and right and wrong and expected restraint applies to it is both arrogant and highly dangerous. i know it doesnt fit in with your happy world book from disney but believe me when i say that there are some places in the world that if you look like you are weak you will be preyed upon very quickly.

I've been to the Middle East a bunch of times and actually most of the people were very friendly. It's just the "religous fundamentalists" that are the haters.

Pretty much everywhere in the world, including large parts of America and Europe, too.

It is not fear, it is knowledge and a realistic worldview.

I hear people say they get accused of being un American on this board by righties? Can you show me a thread this has happened on?

Maybe I am missing it, but I think this is a perception thing, I think for the most part the guys saying this are taking being told your wrong as your un American.

Then again maybe I just missed it. I have not been reading almost any of the Political discussions on this board.

You are un-american GtoRA2.

See, it just happened. I have come to the conclusion that it must happen in every thread, and I base that on absolutely nothing.

arabs culture is brutal. i dont mean inferior or bad just rough. in us or england something that causes spanking for a kid could cause a serious whoopin if the exchange is father to son and thats just the way it is. if arab boys of teenage years ask you in daylight if they allowed in a zone and you say "no" they will ask "what happen if we go there". if you say "you will be in trouble" they will be there that night. if you say "i will shoot you and your friends" they will not be there that night and usually from then on there is mutual respect. they can tell their friends "the american is dangerous he threatened to kill me" so they are seen as brave. also because you are now recognized as formidible individual there is no shame in arabic boy treating you with respect. of course they would not be shot but the act must be convincing. first time i in middle east which was long time ago am standing with platoon chief and young adult arab males come up to us and one asks him if he likes killing. he says "yes but it has been some time i hope to kill again soon". of course he is not serious but with adult males in arabic culter also in -stans sometimes it very important to appear strong enough and dangerous enough to warrant respect. on street in us uk europe respect is by default because of society norms common decency whatever. this is not the same in some parts of arabic world. in some it is cabby in bahrain is not living in same world as villager in border area of afhganistan-pakistan. understand i dont think this is barbaric just the way that culture is. i dont look down on the people because the morals and standards are different.

Why are we "brainwashed" ? From our point of view it's you who are brainwashed.

What I don't understand is why liberals both refuse to accept that descriptive term, and also refuse to use conservative for those who are.  Why does the left always have to use cutsey little names for thier opponents?

Poking fun at people for labeling people, while labeling people.  Interesting.  Almost comical.

Want me to list the cutsy little names for "liberal" that are used on this bbs alone? I missed your post(or skuzzys) complaining about that. That you dont see them, and make such a silly post makes you brainwashed.

If you endorse the world view and aggenda that is the self declared manifesto of the group that runs your country at the moment and are called neo-conservatives..then you are one of those.

Its quite simple.
