Explorer question
« on: August 09, 2004, 08:41:32 AM »
I think I read rip had one.....and I know a couple of other people do to.....

When you are changing the oil in your ford explorer......is it not one of the worst cars to do so?

What I mean is that were the drain plug is, if I open it all the way the oil stream hits the frame and a bunch of other things splashing oil all over everything but my oil pan.

Secondly after removing the filter, left over oil runs down onto one of the exaust pipes and onto a CAT.

Probably one of the worst cars I've had to change the oil in.

My friend was changing the rotors on his Honda Civic last night. They screwed the rotors on with aluminum screws. They got stripped and the only way to get them out was to dremel the hell out of them.

Car manufacturers try to squeeze every penny and fit as much crap into the worst places as possible. I have a fuse box in an Infiniti J30, the only way I can reach it is to hire a contortionist to get down there and replace the fuses.

The spark plugs on an Explorer are no fun, either.

I normally do all my own maintenance on my autos EXCEPT the Explorer. I take the Explorer to Jiffy lube.  Beats swearing and throwing wrenches.
