Either directx 9c or updated nvidia drivers fixed this.  Read on if interested, otherwise ignore.

Nightmare trying to get this game going so far.  Can anybody identify this error?

I get the picture of two big ships being attacked by a few very small ships and nothing else happens.

P.S.  I can't post on the Eve forums until I have a character even though they already have my money.

Sandman,

I'm starting to get the hang of this I game (I think). Would you guys mind another player in your corp? I haven't played AH in about a year. If thats an issue, I understand.

My Eve handle is Apachesan.

Creamo,

A firmware update to my router has at least permitted me to telnet to the server as per their support instructions yay!

But of course my 14 day trial expired in the meantime...

I am trying to get a trial key and I will try the game out

Bought a condor and have been killing the easy rats in 0.8 and running missions.  I will try to look you guys up tomorrow and join the corp.  I wouldn't mind getting involved with mining teamwork if we have any advanced miners running the show.

Gorskii <- Eve and AH handle

P.S.  I picked caldori for race

I put in an app last nite to join the corp.  There is a menu on the right hand side of the screen that you can click on CORPS and then scroll thru them and apply to join.

The training thing still confuses me a little.  I found it under the character screen but someone was saying earlier in this thread that you should train Learning and Learning skills first but I didnt see those in my options for training.  I just had stuff like engineering, mining, etc.  Am I looking in the wrong place?

By the way my in game name is Slingshot Jones.

For any skill that you don't already have, you must purchase the textbook. You can find these for sale in the Market under the "Skills" tab.

I thought I checked the market for skills also, but I still didnt see any that had anything to do with Learning.  Most of the stuff I saw was high dollar high tech skills.

Skurj, I should have added I did my firmware upgrade too, but I'm almost sure I couldn't connect until after that last patch. At least I saw you online a bit ago, so seems like were both in.

I put in an app with the local AH Corp, no responce yet though.

This is pretty addicting stuff, even at the boring stages so I'm just going to subscribe, and give it a month or two.

Sorry bout the the application. I wasn't on last night to approve. I'll have an offer letter on the way tonight, Creamo. Welcome!

Sling, you can do a search for skill books... the radio button at the top right of the market screen allows you to limit your searching/browsing to the station, the system, the constellation, and the region. If you can't find a particular book in the region, your only option is to move to another region and search again.

Thanks Sandman, I'm mining Scordite or whatever it is off Perimiter II-1, and being extra entertained watching my wallet increase, and being more confused.

I saw Sling, but I tried to dock and let my skills increase as I was at work, but appearently that doesn't work. Farts.

I'll save the AH BBS Political Forum much asked questions, and join your BBS site. This learning curve is something else.

Did you get my application last nite too Sandman?

I am an idiot...I didnt even think about enlarging my search to the region.....I was just checking that station.
