That was some fine armed barber chair work last night.  Good shooting, you too Memnon.  I grudgingly salute both of you.

Thank you storch.
As much as I hate having to sit in that chair, I fear the CV would have been sunk if Memnon and I had not been in there.

As for the earlier situation, The same was happining. The guys basicly stoped attacking ur field so I was trying to get both CVs to a safe distance. One CV was hurt bad and had no guns. I was using the second fleet for ack cover to retreat the damaged CV. At the time, we were loosing fighter cover and I thought the fleets would be captured if sunk as was the case even earlier that day. Unknown to me, soulyss changed it to where the CVs could not be captured. However, CV3 was captured late last night.

I think I was the only one to actually drop bombs on the CV, I think I got 4 maybe 5 250kg's on it. You guys did do good keeping it afloat though, VMF-312 must have been helping out with the damage control crews below decks. :)

Yeah, our fellow allied flyers failed to inform us of a high incomming bomber

VMF-312 was asigned to CV duties flying the F4U-1, However, due to recent landing accidents the F4U-1 has been reassigned to airfield operations. We were enroute to our newly captured airfield when we were jumped by "The Devine Wind". Damage to our CV was light and we are scheduled to fly our F4U-1s to the newly asigned airfield at 0400.

I dont mind because I was getting sea sick:(

Well, I was gambling on all the fighters being low at the base, (which they were) otherwise a single Kate isnt going to make it through. I did not suicide however, I made the drop with at least two bombs hitting, and pulled out and was OTW out of the fleet formation on the deck when ack got me.

The second run, I took a Ki61 (heck, it has 2/3rds the payload of the Kate and can defend itself) and again made it to the CV with no fighter opposition. I would have made the second drop too without augering, except there was an F6F landing and I tried to vulch him at the same time as dropping on the CV, which caused me to auger.

I was a bit surprized that the Axis pilots seemed quite willing to let the CV orbit out there and not even try to sink it. One more good run would have taken it down, but in the end I think you guys moved it away so it didnt really matter.

Yes grits that was the the idea. I think most just enjoyed the furballing at your field. When they started comming out to sink the CV, the fight just got closer and closer to the CV. Once the fight got low over the CV, The allies stopped upping. Then the only thing left to do is retreat and start over. However, most of the time the CV gets sunk, much like a field capture, and the party is over. Instead of sinking the CV, allowing it to retreat and recover, will allow the fight to continue. In the CT, sometimes capturing a field or sinking a CV will end the nights arena population. Just a little something I was trying to prevent. Base capturing and CV sinking is a moral buster...lol and sure can empty out the arena. Then again, a CV beached deserves being sunk! Last night was a great typical example. I have no idea why but someone took a CV and beached it. It was sunk. I was going to move it back but decided to just let it go. I just dont why guys like to do that but oh well :(

For my part I called the attack on the CV because I became angry when a person (which will remain un named but whose initials are P6E) nailed me with a 5" as I was going wheels up still over the runway!!!!!  A great shot (wipe that smile from your face) but there is no way the those carriers should be that close unless someone intends to spawn LVTs and then run back out.  you can effectively level a base from the cruisers with the main batteries from 20 miles out ask Gear he does it all the time.

I would say that if we kept the fleets out at least 10 miles or more the fighting would be better.  I like the furballing I dislike getting whacked by ack.  I seriously doubt that ack would have engaged a single fighter in WWII.  Many times that's how you guys give away your fleets position.

Yup, same here. I'd have happily left the CV alone but when you get hit with a 5" gun on the runway (wasnt Hawk with me, was a new guy I didnt recognize) its time for the CV to go. :)

Does this map have CA fleets? Maybe we could have it so you need 2 fleets, a CV fleet for air cover, and a CA fleet for bombardment and LVT's. That might be a little too complicated, just throwing out ideas.

Can I sugest that the new maps be modeled not to allow the fleets withen ten miles? Can the LVTs still spawn at the beach?

I for one am very interested in remodeling the fleets. I would like to see the fleets non-capturable. Instead, have the CV and Cruiser like an airfield. Guns can now be destroyed but what about the flight deck and or hanger? Make them hard to sink but allow then to be hit hard and rendered useless like an airfield.

I enjoy it when the fleet is being attacked. If I am not commanding the fleet, I will just ride in it. Is it fair for me to always "command" it if I have the points?
