Poor max throttle
« on: August 16, 2004, 01:13:02 PM »
I have calibrated my throttle (CH Pro) in Windows and in the game's Joystick calibration setup but still seem to fall behind other aircraft in a formation when everyone is running at max militray power. The deficiency equates to about 1k distance every 15 mins. This with all planes on level autopilot, so it's not my clumsy stick handling. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have your RPMs turned up?  That's what it sounds like.

Thanks for the suggestion about using E6B. My RPM (no such thing as RPMs :) are maxed out, prop pitch full fine. My boost and RPM figures are the same as the rest of my squad.

You have calibrated your stick in Windows, but have you calibrated it within the online game? You need to start the game, enter Setup, select controls, then select joystick, then the joystick calibration option. Follow the instructions, ie full control movements including your throttle. Be sure to move the throttle between fully open and fully closed. See if this works.

Does your E6B read a diffrent air speed than your squadies?

I assume you all have the same loadout (fuel, ext storage)?

When the e6b military man says the same as your full throttle man i doubt its the joystick.

Also flying in a slightly diffrent direction than your squadies will increase distance, and it takes a while for the plane to pick up speed, so when you set max throttle when they say it and they already have it on for a bit it will take a long time till you reach their speed.

Tjay, this same issue came up a loooong time ago... we noticed that in Squad Ops there was always one member of our squad that could not keep up, but was at max throttle. His joystick was fine, was calibrated properly, and his trims were at max.

It turns out that it's a net lag issue, and there's nothing you can really do about it.

I've gotten into the habit of flying at 95% when leading a formation.
