The wifey will only allow me $500 to get a puter good enuff to fly in AH2. I'm thinking of two differnt things here.

I need advice bad. Also the $499.00 puter you can't order by phone....is that a lil suspecious?

If you're brave you can get some great "used stuff." I got a 9700 pro on ebay I'm going to overclock to 9800 pro levels for $150. Get one from a big reseller as a working pull from some corporate lease box and not some kid's overclocked and burnt special.

Got a used Audigy 2 for $40 at computergeeks.com but had to hunt for orig. drivers (Creative certainly doesn't make them avail.) They have a later audigy 2 with drivers I believe for about $60.

For $700 you should be able to make a great AH2 system, even using new parts like an XP 2500 etc., radeon 9600, etc. Lots of options.

For AH (and most current games) I would assume they are Kevin (at least the pro). I have a 9500 pro that works just fine, but for doom 3 at high settings it wouldn't cut it. Got the 9700 pro to get closer (when overclocked to 9800 pro levels) until the current hardware shifts settle out and the prices on the next gen stuff comes down a bit.

MSI has a nice 9800 pro at $200 that has a 9800 XT core you can usually overclock to XT levels (according to the boards) if you want a cheap XT (and if it works/ea card different). Almost wish I had saw that first but you have to stop spending money sometime. And I just dropped hundreds getting the game machine and the work/game 2 machine bumped up some including windows XP $$$

Skuzz I think my isp filters Rooks and Bish emails... But not Hitechcreations...

Rooks try to enlarge my Big Johnson parts with pills...and Bish well it's a "same sex marriage thingy"...
