SAITEK X45 and Rudder Pedals
« on: August 08, 2004, 10:38:06 AM »
Greetings...

I am told that AH will recognize two control inputs.  I have old analog TM RCS (rudder pedals) that connect thru my Soundblaster Card.  I have the Saitek X45 stick and throttle that are USB.  I cannot get the computer to see the rudder pedals in the soundcard (in XP setup or AH).

Anyone know if this is possible and if so how?

Otherwise looks like CH PRO USB Pedals are in my future.  (just find the foot pads a bit narrow on them)

I know it works, just make sure windows sees em first.    At one time I had analog yoke/rud peds on gameport of sound card, stick on usb and also a throttle on usb with AH seeing all of it.

Zanth,

How do I force windows to see it?

Soup,

I had the same set up as yours before I switched to CH.

For some reason I could only get the computer (XP Home) and AH to recognize the TM RCS when I had an analog stick connected along with the rudder.   As long as I had the old TM Top gun stick connected both Xp and AH allowed me to set up the rudder with no problems.

I had to do the same with my CH Fighter stick and throttle.    Map the rudder in AH, ignore the analog stick.  The analog stick is stuffed behind my computer outta sight.

You might be able to get it to work without the analog stick but I never could.   Of course I just use the computer, have no idea what makes it work.

SEABAT...

Talk to me dude..... ;)

So what you are saying is.... you hooked your TopGun into the Pedals... to the gameport (soundcard) and XP would then see them.... and used the X45?

This is interesting... I have enough room to HIDE an analog stick if my rudder pedals work.

I am at work right now so this is kinda by memory.

TM RCS needs the TM Joystick to be recognized in XP and AH2.  For whatever reason the RCS alone will not be picked up. Connecting the two together and plugging into your sound card should allow it to be picked up.   Make sure that you have both the TM and X45 listed in XP set up.

After that in AH make sure your rudder selection is assigned to the TM controller.    The rest of the stuff, throttle and stick, would be assigned to the Saitek controllers.

I am about 95% sure that I used the Saitek program to set up the stick and throttle buttons and did not have to go through the laborious process of mapping those keys in AH.   Only had to make sure that the rudder was assigned in AH to the TM.

I know it works for the CH setup also.

FWIW, I hardly ever used my Saitek stick as I hated the configuration.   I used the TM RCS and joystick and the x45 throttle.   Worked fine that way too.   You just have to select the stick you want to use in AH.
