Dems and Al Quaeda?
« Reply #15 on: August 11, 2004, 10:01:05 AM »
I don't doubt the patriotism of the Dems...   I don't share their political views, though.

That said, it's a boon to the Republicans that Osama and the Dems support the same candidate!!

Don't get your panties in a wad, I know we are all American Patriots, Dems and Republicans, alike.

An unattributed quote in the Washington Times is worth about as much as a cup of spit.

If I read this "press release" correctly, Bin Laden and al Qaeda are endorsing any candidate that can defeat President Bush.  eg,  a vote for Kerry is a vote for al Qaeda.

There are only two reasons that al Qaeda doesn't want Bush to remain in office
- Bush scares them and has been effective with his anti-terror policies.
- They perceive that Kerry will be ineffective

Guys,

Just mellow out, Westy is so desperate to get Kerry out of Massachuesettes he will say / do anything to accomplish it... kinda like Arkansas when they were trying to get rid of the turkey and the witch...

For once I agree with you.  There's no way to really kill the media coverage of terrorists but I think that would go along way to hurt their cause.

Thats insane.
If you believe that's whats being said here, you need to loosen the tin-foil hat.
That line reads like this to me:
Al-Qaeda is more afraid of Bush than anyone else running for president.
That's all there is to it.

Pssst.  He's from Mass ;)

"The goal of the next attack is twofold: to damage the U.S. economy and to undermine the U.S. election," the official said. "The view of al Qaeda is 'anybody but Bush.' "

First off the original security alert has already been show to be based on old pre 911 intelligence.

Secondly the quote is someone's opinion, someone American, someone who wants Bush to continue as President. The not so subtle message is that a vote for Kerry is what OBL wants. We will see a lot more of this in the coming months. It's electioneering.

In reality an attack in America between now and November will ensure Bush's re-election. In my opinion Al Qaeda might prefer Bush to stay president because he is such a hate figure among the loony extremists that it's easy keep them onside. Kerry is an unknown quantity for them.

At the same time I think they don't really care who is president. whether it be Micky Mouse or Martha Stewart. Their enemy is America. End of story.
