Amazing songs? Fluke, if anything. You have to take it all into context. There's 1,000 "amazing" songs written per day. What's their best? You can beat their best down with a wet noodle on several levels.

You can't compair all the songs ever written against one band. Compair Zep to any other one band and tell me how many measure up.

Why not start with Holden's list? Most of them blow Zeppelin outta the water.

Nash, have you ever listened to about 5 Hank tunes, performed by Hank,  in a row? By the end, you would probably want to kill yourself. That guy wrote some of the worst crap I have heard.

His music sucks, his voice is irritating and the lyrics are horrible.

Nah.... I call foul...

That guy was good.

It's phooked nowadays.... The quality of someone's voice has to fit 'tween such a narrow window (thanks lots to software)....

The country you hear on the radio is not country. It just plays one on the radio.

But I have prollems with him too... So I aint gonna step into a Hank vs. debate.

Holden, using your source, I could not list the bands that have covered Beatle songs in one post. In fact, it would require 7 posts just to list them.

Why?

I know some guys who still wear their goofy Michael Jackson Thriller coats. I know some guys who wear feathered hair and have a comb sticking out of their back pocket.

I give 'em 10-15 years to live, tops.

Tomorrow is a lot different than yesterday. And it's a helluvalot different than 40 years ago. Staying stuck on any one thing is tantamount to surrender.

It is throwing your flag up and saying "I give, and I don't have the energy required to engage in today".

Because if you're saying that nothing competes with a 40 year-old band, you are clearly not engaged.

Do you know what the death-rate is for people within 1-3 years after retirement? It's absurd....

Thars *****loads of good bands...  Get out there, or die.

Well, if we are compairing bands overall, no time restraint, the the Beatles pretty much are not matched.

I am not "stuck" on the Beatles...I am a fan of music and like many styles of music.

The BeaTles are probably the best band that has ever been if you compair them to any other single artist/band.

I couldn't tell you a specific release. I'm too old to care that much.

I like Kieth Urban ( awesome writer and performs, plays and sings amazingly) Ever hear of him?

I like some "LIVE" songs

I like: Hole, Nirvana (Unplugged), Sound Garden, Led Zepelin, The Cars, CCR,

I like music on many levels. I like 40's American band music even.

I'm a music fan
