Missions...and perk planes
« on: August 13, 2004, 08:30:22 AM »
I'd like to see perk planes used in missions, for NO cost if lost, as long as you followed the waypoints of the mission, and the mission can only be launched if the mission max number was met.

If people wanted to do a Tempest escorting Lancs, they could do so, without fear of losing perk points, as long as the people involved followed the waypoints, taking them to target and back home.

This would prevent lone wolfs getting a free pass, and would hopefully encourage mission flying. I wouldn't want to see it abused, so it would have to have certain criteria, such as a high number involved, and wps followed etc.

I'd like to squads using these on squadnights etc, I think it would open up more fun. Picture it as a reward for playing in a manner that promotes large flights that are lead, and followed in a way that seems more realistic, than a lone tempest or 262 every once in awhile.

Then we'd have 50 man 262 sweeps.. Dunno how that idea would work out.

I disagree with "no perk missions".

The perks should limit the useage to "realistic levels".

The only way that I can see this being workable is if the person setting up the mission pays for everybody's perk ride.

E.g. a ten Me262 sweep mission where five are lost would cost the mission originator 1000 perks (subject to national perk cost multiplier) and nothing for the pilots that lost the Me262s.

A variant of this would be to have the originator subsidize the perk planes.  In my prior example this could mean 500 points from the originator and 100 points from each of the pilots that lost a 262.  The percentage of the subsidization could be set anywhere, or even be adjustable by the originator to use as a selling point ("Hey, come get your free 262s!").

Bottom like though is that somebody has to pay for the perk planes.

Thats a cool idea Karnak...have mission points of some sort. Only so many alotted each campaign, and your total allotted would be a reflection of the previous campaigns total rank.

Maybe those that ranked 1-100 could get 3 missions worth of points they could form, 101-200 could get 2 missions worth, and 201-300 1 missions worth..for the entire campaign.

You are right someone would have to pay somehow. That wouldnt be to bad.

I don't see how having a flock of perked planes flying around helps game play at all. It's bad enough when a mission is composed of 20 P-38's. God help us if it were 262's screaming down on us. If you earn them then you use/lose them. Mission or not. My pennies worth

Keep it as it is when you have enough for the "deposit" on the perk plane , you can get it out of the hangar, but now if you broke it you bought it :D
