The HO verses the ACM..Better fights?
« on: August 15, 2004, 10:40:02 AM »
Hail Everyone.....

Just thought I'd post something new for us to ***** about...HO's

I know this isn't AW...I know HO's were part of real combat,(though not a big part) but I think the HO model in here is way too easy.

In AW, HO's were almost impossable. Yes you could do it, but almost no one really thought they were going to get one so...

Your first thought on the merge was what  move you were going to make after the merge( read ACM=strategy). I was a trainer in AW....AWTCcuttr..(not the best one,but hey,I volenteered....lol) and had a great time teaching new guys how to do split esses, immel's,hi and low yoyo's,working the flaps like mad... ect. but in here new guys have almost no incentive to learn true ACM's....just HO an hope you get the kill. I see it all too often.

I feel alot of great fights like the one Chortle and Redtop spoke about in another thread are gettin too rare.
I almost never HO on merge...just my preferance, but 9 times out of ten the other guy will HO.
I know there are those that say" then HO em back", but I like the long ,turning, twisting fights that leave you shaking and make you want a drink when it's over.

There are those that will say you can avoid an HO, and you can....somtimes....but usually at the cost of E or position( with the exception of those pilots that are so good...in their own minds...that they never get themselvs in that situation).

My point is just that I think alot of the true skill involved in a good fight is lost to the HO.

One other thing I would like too see is non-killable planes in the TA. Kind of like the planes that fly around the base in the offline version, not drones, but flyable planes. Record the kill, but have the plane remain. This would make teaching and practicing good ACM, and SA much easier, and I think more people would take advantage of it.

Well...that's it
As allways...feel free to correct spelling, call me a dweeb, or tell me I don't know what I'm talking about  :-P

you don't know what you're talking about.

:D

part of ACM is using their HOness against them. and yes, there are times when a HO is practically unavoidable, or a conscious decision - like turning into the 4th guy coming in on you a cherry while ur busy with 3 others and HOing his *** back to tower.

TA already has way lowered lethality.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

When someone HOs you, you are about to win the fight.  Pull under them on the merge, then loop up as they pass you.  You are now above them and on their 6.  At all costs, no matter the temptation, do not meet the HO face-to-face.

HOs are almost always easy to avoid and set you up for the win.  I welcome them. :)

This is a good idea - as long as the trainer can "flip the switch" to manage a kill/nokill mode.
