Can I mix a pc2100 128mb. With a pc2100 256mb? I am ordering new computer on monday.

must remain the same type..2100 128 and 2100 256 is fine.

Im pretty sure this is correct.

They are both pc2100, which is all that matters.

doesnt need to remain same type either

you could have 128mb of PC2100 with 512mb of PC3200

I am not sure about your processor thoug, it may be it hungers for better ram than 2100.  My current CPU (Barton 2700) in fact is not running full speed for this reason but i did'nt care cause its fast 'nuff as is.

You would not want to do this normally, but maybe with your processor it woulodnt matter (too lazy to look it up).  It would however make a WORLD of difference with newer AMD processors.

err its nothing to do with the cpu, infact my cpu would be more picky since the memory controlers are inbuilt....

if you mix p2100 and pc 3200 you need to run it at pc2100 speeds

simple really.

for me i have 512mb PC2700, and 2x256mb PC3200, so i had to drop my speed to Pc2700, it makes some games slower, and some faster because some games need loads of ram, others need fast ram..... Alt tabbing is also much faster with 1 gig.
