Land on water

The other day i shot a la7 engine out just above sea lvl, i thought i has to crash in the water and i get the kill.
But he landed on the water and released (i saw the plane disappear) and it was not counted as a kill or assist for me.
I think its a bug that you can land on the water.

Schutt it's not a bug.
If you are carefull you can grease it on. It's not a landing, it is a ditch, and it happened (happens) in real life too. It is quite possible to slide it onto the water and live through it.
cheers,

LOL Xtrmej.
I have succesfully ditched, in the water, F4U's, F6F's, P-51's etc etc etc.
Granted they are generally missing a few pieces when they come to a stop, but they all exhibit the same property:
They will all float.

Sunday night had a FW 190D ditch in the water below me.
Hit the water at 290 miles an hour.
Engine and cockpit were all that was left but he made it.
No relevence just anecdote.

There is no sinking model yet.
That said, empty or low fuel tanks make good flotation devices. Many aircraft were successfully ditched in the water in WWII.

"It's not a landing, it is a ditch, and it happened (happens) in real life too. "
Problem is--in reality, a forced crash-landing into the water in combat is a confirmed kill.

go offfline and get a 262 and land on the water - if you set it down perfect - you can skim for at least 20 seconds at around 300mph

Any plane with under-wing or under-fuselage air scoops would have difficulty landing on water in real-life, IMO. I recall reading that p51s and Hurricanes, among others, didn't ditch well in water, in real-life.

The typhie was a siucide ditch most of the time. The giant scoop would dig in and a pilot would often find themselves on the bottom of the channel, needing to break out and swim up.

Lets just start with basic "god" complex of your troop. even if you bail out on the water.*cough* ground. and you bail out. you can walk on water. isnt that something?... atleast cut him in half and put him in the water. or make legs? gun shoots? SOMETHING!

Whatever adjustment was made to fix the almost impossible to ditch gear up, may have went a tad to far. Now if a plane takes a terminal hit low over water ie. lose a wing they tend to slide across the water sheding parts, but do not die. Been on the giving and recieving end of that scenerio.
