Just borrowing from the Dyslexics Untie Joke, its old, its lame, its an attention grabber.

If I had said, this is another early war plane thread from Downtown no one would look.

So I result to Deception and Trickery.

If we ever get the I-16 I'll fly it.

If my info is right, this plane was very unstable, like trying to balance a pencil by its tip on your fingertip.  Okay, well maybe not that unstable, but nothing to relax in either.  Now a plane like this could be either one helluva turnfighter, or a deathtrap, depending on your joystick touch.

Incidently, average wingloading was quite good as the following comparison shows:

A6M2 Model 21: 18.66 lb./sq.ft.
Spitfire IA: 21.41 lb./sq.ft.
I-16 Tip 24: 23.32 lb./sq.ft.

So, maybe think of the I-16 as a very small, tight turning fighter with the roll rate of a Fw 190?  Can you say Scissors King?
