Possible solution to MA dislike dilema
« on: August 17, 2004, 10:10:28 PM »
I gotta believe that the # imbalance is less of a problem than the different factions of the game peeing in each others pool.

A good example would be when a perfectly good furball is going on and 4-5 individuals decide that killing 3 fighter hangers otta get a rise from the opposite side.
Can't think of an eg where the furballers can do any damage to strat guys but i'm sure there is.
GV spawners stop GV strat from there fun is an eg.

Bombers have virtually no impact on the game if fighters decide to pay attention.

My proposal is to do away with a single C47 and 10 troops taking a base.
Before a base can be captured why not implement a series of neccesary events.
1st--GV's--make 5-6 pads around the enemy base that have to have be occupied by opposing GV's--effectively surrounding the field. Make the enemy GV base so it can only be destroyed by bombers. # of bombs set at whatever level.

2nd--have other certain targets that have to be destroyed by bombers before base capture is possible.

3rd--Make fighter hangers obsolete so a fighter cap is required.

4th--10 troops need to be inserted at any time during the sequence of events.

I'm sure this an over the top scenario butsomething like it would deffinately bring the whole game into play and make 2-3 big maps all that are needed.

Would still suggest a 1 week rotation of maps regardless .

Dive into base and pork the trooops and ord with your cannons.

The change to towns where they now have 120 zillion objects you have to destroy before capturing has slowed down captures quite a bit. The regen rate seems tweaked to be faster, but I could be wrong.

The net effect is that if you don't down the town very quickly (i.e., if you stagger the attack) then parts of the town are "regening" while the goon is dropping troops. This has made large bombers a little more necessary for 1st pass town busting with JABO as clean up. In many cases, however, the speed at which the assault needs to be conducted has created even MORE of a horde phenomenon than before, in my opinion.

It takes a lot more to kill the town and suppress a field already. Requiring two goon loads would pretty much stall base captures completely, wouldn't it ? I mean... lets just do away with map reset altogether, then (as suggested elsewhere).
