It is completely up to you.  I am not familiar with any of the software firewalls, so I am not sure what they are going to block, but generally speaking, nothing on your box should be allowed to access the Internet without you knowing about it.

I'm assuming that your running XP. This is a great site for tweaking XP http://www.blackviper.com/index.html I've had no trouble with, nor have I heard of anyone having any trouble with these set-ups.

Another thing thats pretty handy is FS autostart. It a program made to run Microsofts Flight Simulator, but it works for any program. You get it here http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=51910 Once you DLed it extract the zip file. When you go into the "Set-up" areas for the services and such it will give you a breif dicription of the services and weather or not you need it running. Once you set-up the program, you can start it and it will close all program you deem unnessisary, and start Aces High. After you close Aces High, it will re-start all the programs you shut down. All in one click  :)

Hope this helps !
