This idea was imbedded in another thread and didn't receive much discussion. I would really like to hear some feedback on it if I could.
Has anyone considered limiting the ENY of airfields instead of limiting individual aircraft on a country wide basis?
I would think that every airfield would have a finite amount of space for planes, support personel, and resources. These factors would directly effect how many aircraft that airfield would be capable of putting up at one time. All you have to do is assign a number to each field to be that limit. Then take the current ENY values and turn them into fractions.
For Example: If a base had a value of 1 and If a plane has a ENY value of 20 then it would be 1/20th of the available aircraft at that base. If the plane had a ENY of five then that would be 1/5th on so forth. The end result would be the base could put up 20 fighters with a 20 ENY or only 5 fighters with a ENY of 5.
So... the more advanced the plane the larger the drain on the resources and thus the fewer aircraft that could up from that base. (As aircraft were destroyed, disabled, or landed at other bases, resources would be freed up at that airfield and more aircraft would then be allowed to launch.)
The end result would be to cap on the number of aircraft that can up from any particualr field. This would limit the amount of aircraft operating in that immediate vicinity and force a team with vastly greater numbers have to be dispersed over a wider area since they would have to operate from several different fields. This would keep players from concentrating all in one spot so even if the different countries had vastly different overall numbers of players, individual fights over bases would still remain fairly even. (Micromanagement)
AND... Since the ENY of the plane you chose would effect how many planes could up from that base. This would allow the team with the lower number of players the luxury of selecting low ENY planes and force the side that wanted to overwhelm with numbers into using high ENY planes. (Also, players who wanted to use a "perk" plane would be inclined to up from a rear base away from the action so as not to gobble up the resources of a front line base.)
If one force wanted to throw 3 times as many aircraft into a particular battle than the opposing force had, they could still do so but only if they co-ordinated and timed their attack so that all groups coming from their respective airfields arrived on scene at exactly the same time.
I personally really think this might work... ok... tear into to it guys.
