...last Saturday! Wooohooo! Now I know for some of you this would be no biggie. But I'm not a pilot irl. I just happened upon the owner as he was cleaning it up one day last week outside his hangar. We got to talkin and he invited me up for a ride sometime. Well, Saturday we went up. About 10 min into the flight (I was in the back seat) he asked over the headset if I wanted to take over. I said "Is the Pope Catholic?" So I flew for about 20 minutes. A real Stick-and-rudder. It's an Aviat Husky he bought recently. Was built in '97, I think, so not many hours on the frame or engine. Looked brand new. This was an experience I'll not forget.

Yes. I've seen photos of these with pontoons. And they require only short distance for take-off and landing.

Let me also say, squeezing my 6'-3" bulk into the back seat was no easy task. Once I was strapped in I definately felt like I was part of the plane.

Nice plane. I got my tail wheel endorsement in one of those, was a bit more expensive than taking a J-3 but it was nice not to have road traffic blowing by me

Cool slimm50. I just got my taildragger sign off this summer, and am awaiting my co-pilot check out in this-

We have two of these Super DC 3's, I have two take off and landings under my belt so far, spend more time working on them unfortunately.

Cool! I didn't do any takeoffs or landings, of course, only got to yank n bank at around 2K for about 15-20 minutes. We were over some farmland and buzzed a coyote at one point. Was a really nice feeling using the stick, tho. Even after flyin online sims all these years I was was still surprised at how natural it all felt. Only thing really diff was the turbulence and th flip-floppy thingy my stomach was doing.

there is nothing like piloting a real aircraft for an aviation enthusiast! WTG

if you want (in my opinion) the most free feeling of flight see if you can get yourself up in a glider (or sailplane to you yanks

)

theres nothing quite like it!

shame you have to find someone willing to drag the kite up to 2000ft first unless you get a hillside catapault launch (very scary)

I have 36 hours in a 1943 J3cub its afun ride you can chop the throttles and hollor at your kids in the yard. Taildraggers are way more fun that the trike jobs, you have to s turn to see and fly it till you stop. Its almost more fun on the ground than in the air.
