Phantom Shooter! (check the film out)
« on: August 18, 2004, 09:07:39 PM »
No im not talking about a F4 Phantom or a Sienfeld episode.

Here i am chasing down an LA7, ,  about to tear him a new one ,,,
when out of the blue,,, bam I'm hit!... and i forgot my hanky, to wipe off the blood off the canopy.

Yah yah,,,  No there was no one behind me or near me,, infact.
I was aware of the nearest fighter wich was way below, engaged...  and there is no GVs that can shoot up to 10k,, that I know of.

The only thing I can think off and after reviewing my gun cam footage is that... a the frienldy field ack shot me!  There was ack puffs around.

Is this posible??  Maybe a freak occurance or a posible bug, ,  it may be only over that field.....

but lol I was pissed  had a good fight previously in that plane  and wanted to land it  , , I blacked out on landing and crashed.

Feel free to review the film your self.   My pilot is hit exactly 1min into the film.

You can see that there is no other fighter within range on the tactical display on the right

Currently don't have time to watch vid, but friendly flak ("puffy ack") can kill/damage you. Was like that in AH1. Also, it you taxi your wing over a firing field ack, it will shoot/break you.

shooting NME Invokes Freindly Fire

I have noticed in Head to Head play,  shooting an nme craft will sometimes have the same effect as kill-shooter. Perhaps this is what you experienced?

hey, AronM2

and every one else,  I was over a friendly field, so if I was hit FLACK  then it was my own field ack that nailedme.

pretymuch what I'm saying is,  I did't know that it was posoible to be hit by friendly ack.   Is it?

Yah i watched the vid many times....  I actualy forgot and left my cam running for 40min.  this verison i croped down for size and your time.        oops   so you can see why I was pissed
and in the same night my left toe brake on my CH rudder pedals craped out....   sheeeeeeeeeeeesh        can you say bad luck!

anyways   so I guess its not a bug?  I think thats what I got out of        HiTech's response.... .. .. .  so watch out,,,

If this is the case the flack should halt on that target as soon as  a friendly interceptor is 1k within it's range.

but thats jsut my 3 cents.

Mystery death
« Reply #7 on: August 22, 2004, 11:58:54 PM »
In the recent Battle of Britain scenario, frame 4 today, I was mysteriously killed.  I was returning to base over the English Channel without any enemy near me and no enemy guns anywhere around me when I suddenly hear a flurry of hits on my aircraft, oil spray on the windshield, blood on the windshield, and death (with the host message "you have been killed"), all in less than half a second.

Here is a link to a film of the event happening:

bob2004_frame4_mysterydeath.ahf

Right click on it and select "save target as..." and give it a .ahf suffix to the file name.

Ya, i also experienced an unknown death similar to you as well.
ppl tried to tell me it was ack, but I don;t think so.  Ack doesn't
sound like bullets ripping through your plane.  I also believe
I was at a friendly airbase at the time.

In my case, I was 25 miles out at open water with nothing near me except a friendly fighter at 3500 yards, so there is no possibility even of friendly fire.
