Fog or haze in the CT?
« on: August 21, 2004, 12:35:05 AM »
Why is the sky so hazy in the CT? It's incredibly disorienting, and makes the CT an unpleasent place to fly...

Any way we could get limited icons back as well?  Kinda hard to bounce anyone with the full icons.

So thats why? Because of no 3K icons?

The fog is much more annoying, get rid of it first then ask HTC for help about icons...

I looked at the settings and there is no setting for "Haze". There is a setting for "Fog". SO I guess its the "fog" that is the culprit. Anywho.....I like lower visabilty. It is more realistic.

I hear the MA and DA have unlimited visability as well as long rang icons.

PLease come fly the CT just dont bring the MA settings with you:(

Damn fog! :)

I'd just blew up the other 110, got one of the 109s heavly damaged, so it left only 109.  Or so I thought! ;)

How do you like your sky?  CAVU (Ceiling and Visibility Unlimited) or real?  Take it from me who has spent at least 3000 hrs. in a real airplane, fog, haze, limited visibility is part of the real world of flight.  CAVU days don't come too often except unfortunately on 9/11.  My feeling is that the CT arena should strive for realism above and beyond what you find in the MA.  For other opininions on the subject of realistic play please check out my site at

I like the fog/haze.  It does add to the realism.  Short icons would be good; friendly only icons would be better.

The 'fog' setting is currently on the default of 10 miles. The only setting we have is actually haze although it is mis-represented as fog.  The values are from 0ft to 17 miles.

There is no setting for friendly only icons but we can control the distances they are visible. Friendlies are always visable at 10 miles, but we control the icons for enemy, 6 or 3 miles.
