Going pay, I'm in when there's HA ...

FWIW, there are enough planes for me (the P-38 is on its way, and I'm a fan of the 109 & P-51 which are already here).  I saw threads where there will be "historical" scenarios, but not yet a 7x24 HA, with details yet to be worked out.

Since we're going for pay, among all the other things HTC has to do    I'd like to request a proposed "historical" schedule.

For me, I'll join up if there will be "historical" events at least every other weekend ...

I think they said that they'll make an HA when they get enough players signed up.  If the case is that they just need more money for an HA, then I can understand that approach.  But otherwise I think they'd really get a lot more players if they just went ahead an opened up a Historical Arena.

Scenarios might make up for the lack of a 24/7 arena... but I'm a bit more demanding than Gator.  I think I'd hold off on considering an account until there were scenarios run at least 3 times a week (like wb's scenario lites).  Can't make 'em all, y'know?  So a choice as to what day you can fly these events would be good.

HiTech and Pyro created Warbirds and they know the economics behind the arena's. Someday when the numbers warrant it they might make a HA arena. I have played warbirds and saw the small numbers thta played the HA arena. I dont see the justification of an HA if the numbers are small.

I first flew online in WarBirds in late '97.  For over a year and a half now that's all I've been flying - the Historical Arena.  To me, smaller numbers are a good thing.

In any sim it all comes down to having options to choose from.  An HA may not be for everyone, but it seems rather narrow minded to just write something off because you see no justification in it.

So what if the HA only attracted fifty more borderline customers?  That's $1,500/month.  Justification enough?

Yeah I'll sign up and wait for the HA at the same time.  In WB 1.xx and later in 2.xx I had some great furballs.  Averaging 5-8 kills per death in HA full realism.  Now if the HA in AH is anywhere near that good, (and I bet it'll be better) then I can easily justify the $30 a month.  Beats hell out of paying $300 a month for discos in WB.

If/when AH does the HA, I sure hope it's the North African theatre as well as the PTO.  North Africa was one of the hottest scens for dogfights barring the Battle of Brittain.  It is also the most neglect arena depicted in any flight sims.  And yes, the US Navy had carrier ops there too.    Don't believe it?  Ask Tom Blackburn about it.

In WB I also lived in the HA.  Even with the droves of WB players, I often logged into the HA all by my self.  As much as I want an HA in this game, I agree that it's numbers need to increase before it would be sucsessful.
