wireless internet

My contract with direct way comes up in Oct and they just put some microwave internet sites in the valley, so I think I am going to switch.  The lady said I should get 600-900k speed and no delay or lag like I get with the satalite, who knows I might even start playing aces high again, once I get a new video card.

Has anyone here used wireless (microwave) internet?  and have you heard anything about it.

I'd bet it will be affected by weather.  But at my old house we had a linksys wireless router.  Even at great distances the thing was surprisingly fast.

They have high speed wireless here. It is limited to 20 miles line of sight from the tower.

both RPM and laser are correct.

I used to work ALOT w/ microwave and I'd have to say it is anything but 100% dependable.

Example

We had a line of site connection to some field  units about 10 miles away.  During the summer EVERY DAY we'd loosed connectivity right around 9AM.  We could not figure this out for the longest time.  We were figured the equipment was heating up in the morning after being turned on and shutting down.

For the longest time we trouble shot this brainstorming calling tech support.

Well we went out into the field to see if somehow we were losing our line of site when we realized the most peculiar site.

A farm that our signal cut through watered their crops every day right around 9AM.  This added more humidity to the air in a dry desert environment.  This changed the ionization level as well wich changed the ability to transmit RF.

We moved the towers by 20 ft and problem solved.

That's microwave for ya.
